Your average six-year-old boy is learning the alphabet, or playing football.
Gohan isn't your average six-year-old. His father is Goku, one of the last of a powerful race, the Saiyans, and he seems to have inherited a touch of the family super-strength.
Since his father's death saving the world (albeit with the promise that he would come back in a year), he's been undergoing training with Piccolo, which mostly involves being deposited in a jungle infested with dinosaurs. Now, the Saiyans are coming, and he's going to need all the training he can get.

Gohan is six, with fluffy black hair unless he is in Super Saiyan form (not able to yet), in which case his hair turns a glowing gold. When powering up, he glows all over.
He is able to fly, shoot glowing balls of energy, and perform martial arts available to someone of his stature. He also has an incredibly fast metabolism, eats about ten times what you'd expect from a child of his age, and has an accelerated healing factor.
